The first four Qualifying Days of the 2015 Bass Pro Shops Summit Select have been contested and now it is time to move to two days of the Survival Round. It’s a second chance for anglers that placed second through fourth during the Qualifying Round.

Like the Qualifying Round, only the winner of each day will earn a spot to compete in the 2015 General Tire Summit Cup. However, the difference here is that you either win or go home.

Just like most of the days of the Qualifying Round in this Select event, the first day of Survival on Hudson Lake resulted in fireworks. Two anglers traded blows for the lead with only minutes remaining in the third period.

Scott Ashmore, from Broken Arrow, Okla., produced a keeper in the last three minutes that overtook Andy Montgomery for the win. Ashmore spent his day working jigs and tubes along a stretch of rip rap near a mid-lake bridge. His effort earned him the berth to the 2015 Summit Cup with a winning weight of 30-pounds, 1-ounce.

Although Montgomery managed to produce more bites and caught one of the largest fish during the day, his overall average weight was lower; he finished second with 29 pounds. He was followed by Casey Scanlon, who led most of the day, but he caught his final keeper with an hour remaining and fell out of contention with 26-pounds, 7-ounces. Brandon Palaniuk finished fourth with 21-pounds, 7-ounces, followed by Keith Combs in fifth with 20-pounds, 13-ounces, and Mark Rose in sixth with 6-pounds, 8-ounces.
