Like anglers on Sudden Death Day One of the 2015 General Tire Summit Cup, Sudden Death Day Two anglers found themselves at Long Pond, one of the Belgrade Lakes to the West of Waterville, Me. While Brent Ehrler found Long Pond very accommodating the day before, Day Two anglers didn’t find it quite as agreeable. With the cut-weight still at 37 pounds, the six-angler field still made the day an all-out sprint for first, second and third place.

Select Qualifier Ott DeFoe strung together 31 keepers on a variety of lures, primarily a finesse worm, to be the only angler to get within a pound of the cut-weight. He posted his final keeper at 3:42 p.m. and won the day with a total of 36 pounds, 10 ounces.

The day started with fireworks as a trio of anglers settled within a couple hundred yards from the takeoff boat ramp and rendezvous near a culvert that separated the two main arms of the lake. Greg Hackney, Michael Iaconelli and DeFoe put on a show for most of the first period. While Iaconelli and Hackney milled around on the same side, DeFoe elected to fish the other side.

Iaconelli and Hackney came out of the gate the fastest and rung the SCORETRACKER LIVE bell the most. However, being the fastest out of the gate doesn't always result in being the first to the finish line. While Hackney and Iaconelli divided fish effectively, DeFoe relocated to a different area with a larger school of fish.

Iaconelli was the second man to qualify based on having the next highest weight at the end of the day. His 28 pounds, 5 ounces attained him a position in the field for the Championship Round. Following Iaconelli in third place was Aaron Martens, who largely used a drop-shot rig to become the final qualifier with 26 pounds, 2 ounces.

The Championship Round qualifiers were followed by Kevin VanDam in fourth with 23 pounds, 6 ounces, Hackney in fifth with 21 pounds, and Shaw Grigsby with 18 pounds, 3 ounces.
