Martens Third at Douglas Lake Elite

DANDRIDGE, Tenn. — Aaron Martens bounced back from a slow start on the 2012 Elite Series Tour to take third place in this past weekend’s event at Douglas Lake in East Tennessee. Martens lead day one with a 23-pound, 14-ounce bag, but fell short in the final three days.
Dean Rojas, who has fished steadily throughout the season, finished in fourth place. Three other Major League Fishing anglers placed in the top 12, including Jeff Kriet 8th, Mike McClelland 10th and Mark Davis 11th.
Todd Faircloth, who advanced to the second round during Major League Fishing’s Challenge Cup, is in sixth place in the Elite Series Toyota Tundra Angler of the Year standings. Bobby Lane is 8th, Edwin Evers 9th, Kevin VanDam 11th, Alton Jones 14th and Jeff Kriet 20th.
Other Major League Fishing anglers in the top 50 are: Mike McClelland (21), Shaw Grigsby (23), Tommy Biffle (24), Skeet Reese (26), Dean Rojas (29), Kelly Jordon (31), Greg Hackney (33), Mike Iaconelli (34), Mark Davis (37) and Ish Monroe (47).
After the last FLW event, Challenge Cup champion Brent Ehrler sits 15th in the Walmart FLW Tour Angler of the Year standings.
