Hackney Fourth at Toledo Bend Elite
Evers tops Major League Fishing anglers in B.A.S.S. AOY standings
by Major League Fishing Communications
Major League Fishing angler Greg Hackney finished fourth at this past weekend’s B.A.S.S. Elite Series tournament at Toledo Bend Lake. Mark Davis had a strong showing with a seventh-place finish. Rounding out the top 20 were Edwin Evers in 17th place, Jeff Kriet finished18th and Denny Brauer 20th.
The Toledo Bend tournament jumbled the Toyota Tundra Angler-of-the-Year standings. After five of eight events, Evers, who sits in eighth place, is the top-ranked Major League Fishing angler. Other Major League Fishing anglers in the Top 30 are: Kevin VanDam (12th), Kriet (13th), Alton Jones (15th), Hackney (16th), Shaw Grigsby (19th), Davis (23rd), Bobby Lane (25th) and Dean Rojas (26th).
Finishing in the upper tier of the Angler-of-the-Year standings or a tournament victory is critical to an angler’s chances for reaching the 2013 Bassmaster Classic. About one-third of the 100-member Elite Series field will qualify for Classic based on Angler-of-the-Year standings.
Major League Fishing anglers Alton Jones and Ish Monroe have automatically qualified for the Classic because of their first-place finishes at the St. John’s River and Lake Okeechobee, respectively.
