BASSIN' Named Official Magazine
of Jack Link's Major League Fishing
BIXBY, Okla. – BASSIN’ has been named the official magazine of Jack Link’s Major League Fishing, the magazine and the league announced today.
BASSIN’, a six-times yearly publication that offers fishing tips, feature stories and industry news, will offer content provided by Major League Fishing in addition to its staff-generated stories and reports. The Bixby, Okla.-based, magazine also will sponsor portions of upcoming Major League Fishing telecasts.
“I believe Major League Fishing is going to revolutionize tournament fishing,” said BASSIN’ Publisher Brad Uhl. “Major League Fishing is based on a great concept, and the league is executing that concept extremely well. We are delighted to be entering into this venture with Major League Fishing.”
Major League Fishing is a partnership between Outdoor Channel, America’s Leader in Outdoor TV, and many of the world’s best-known and most accomplished anglers. The league produces, high-intensity, made-for-television bass fishing events that utilize an innovative, new format.
The league’s first event, the Challenge Cup, was held on Lake Amistad and recently completed 13-week run on Outdoor Channel. The format calls for competition that includes 24 of the world’s top anglers. The anglers are not allowed to practice events, cannot compete with pre-determined GPS waypoints and are limited to fishing on designated sections of the lake disclosed to them shortly before each day’s competition rounds begin. Each day’s action serves as an elimination round.
The anglers’ boats are equipped with real-time leader boards. Boat judges, accompanying all anglers, administer penalties and score every legal fish as soon as they are caught. After the weight of each catch is recorded, bass are released back into the lake.
Major League Fishing will film two events in 2012. The first will be televised during the first quarter of 2013. An extended Internet pay-per-view version also will be available.
“We believe this is a partnership that will offer many benefits to the bass-fishing community,” said Major League Fishing Commissioner Don Rucks. “We’re extremely pleased to be working with BASSIN’ to offer fresh content to people who love and appreciate what both BASSIN’ and Major League Fishing are contributing to the fishing community.”
